This recipe is brilliant to have when you need something very healthy to accompany your main dish. It is an extremely quick dish to make and can become an instant replacement for plain rice.

Read on below for a recipe for quick-to-make ghee rice.

Ingredients List:

  • 1 and a ½ cups of rice
  • 3 cups of water
  • 2 tablespoons of ghee
  • 1 tablespoon of oil
  • ½ a tablespoon of fennel seeds (sauf)
  • 1-inch cinnamon
  • 4 cloves
  • 2 cardamoms
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • ¼ piece chopped onion
  • Salt as per taste

Wonderchef Products Used:

A Wonderchef Granite Non-Stick Casserole is perfect to make ghee rice in. Make sure to have two of these if possible for the making of this dish.

A Wonderchef Non-Stick Spatula is the industry standard spatula to use at home.

Recipe, Step-by-Step:

Step 1: Set the Granite Casserole onto the stove, and pour some 2 tbs. of oil onto it.

Step 2: After letting the oil simmer for a few seconds, add 2 teaspoons of ghee to the casserole.

Step 3: Once the ghee becomes clear, add fennel seeds (sauf), cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, and the chopped onion immediately after the fennel seeds. Stir the contents, and mix them thoroughly using a spatula. Let the onions fry fully, and caramelize if there is no time constraints.

Step 4: Add rice to the mix.

Step 5: Stir the entire content of the casserole thoroughly. Do make sure that all of the rice is coated with the mixture.

Step 6: Boil water with salt until boiling in a separate casserole, or a boiler. Then pour the saltwater into the casserole to mix with the rice.

Step 7: Add lime immediately after.

Step 8: Boil the ghee rice, and cover the casserole with a lid while doing so. Boil it until most of the water is gone, and the rice is steamed and puffy.

Step 8: Serve into the appropriate cutlery and enjoy!
