CRANBERRY AND POMEGRANATE PUNCH – Drink Up Grinches, It’s Christmas!

The holidays are just around the corner and I’ve got just the thing you need for your Christmas party. This Punch is super easy to put together and it’s bound to be a crowd pleaser.

Did you know that punch actually has its roots in India? The word is believed to have originated from the Hindi word paanch because the drink typically had 5 ingredients. It was popularised in the West by East India Company employees and eventually became a staple at gatherings. This communal drink can be made without alcohol but even an alcoholic version would not be as strong as a typical cocktail. Which is great because this punch tastes so good, you’ll definitely drink glass after glass of it! 

Equipment

While this drink can be made with packaged juice, nothing beats the fresh kind! Non-Alcoholic Punch

For a non-alcoholic version you can just skip the vodka. The triple sec brings a great citrus flavour to the punch so I would suggest replacing that with orange juice. You can also add some orange zest for an extra kick of citrus flavour. 

RECIPE CARD

Serves: 8
Time: 10 minutes 

Ingredients 

  • 2 cups Pomegranate Juice
  • 2 cups Cranberry Juice 
  • 1 cup Vodka 
  • 1 cup Triple Sec 
  • 1½  Tbsp Lime Juice 
  • 4 cups Soda 
  • 1 small Pomegranate
  • 1 Orange 
  • Ice

Method: 

  1. Prepare the fruits for the punch – Cut thin slices of the orange and de-seed the pomegranate. Set aside
  2. Combine the pomegranate, cranberry, orange and lime juices with the vodka and triple sec in a punch bowl filled with ice. 
  3. Add the soda and cut fruits. 
  4. Serve immediately.
