Peanut Sauce: You’ll go Nuts for This Stuff!

We’re always looking for quick and easy recipes in the kitchen. Nobody’s ever said no to a delicious recipe that can be prepared in under ten minutes, especially if it’s as delicious as this easy 5 minute peanut sauce! This versatile sauce is a breeze to make and can elevate almost any dish be it stir-fries, salads, noodles or curries. All you need are a few simple ingredients, 60 seconds in the Nutri-blend Smart and you’ve got yourself a delicious sauce that you can drizzle, drench or dip your favourite foods into!

Peanut sauces are most prominently associated with Southeast Asian cuisines. This versatile and flavourful sauce is featured in popular dishes from Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia. Peanuts have natural umami flavour which helps to enhance and round out the other flavours in the dish it accompanies. To make things easier, we’re going to use natural unsweetened peanut butter. The best part about this recipe is how customisable it is. The measurements given below are more like guidelines – you can always make it spicier or sweeter according to your own preference.

Equipment

A smart recipe requires a smart blender and luckily I got my hands on the Nutriblend Smart to help me through. When you’re making salad dressings, dips and sauces such as this one, a big problem you can face is the liquid ingredients spilling out while mixing. Which is why you might always have one hand placed firmly on the jar of the mixer. The Nutriblend Smart has a unique leak proof design that keeps everything securely within the jar. Whether you’re grinding dry masalas or making smoothies, the specially designed UV-bonded silicone gasket has your back!

It takes all of two minutes to gather your ingredients for this sauce and after just one minute on the smoothie mode, your sauce is ready. It’s fast, but also precise. This sauce includes a lot of hard to mix ingredients like ginger, garlic, oil, peanut butter and water but the Nutriblend whipped it all up into one smooth sauce in no time. All while I was busy scrolling on my phone! The biggest advantage of upgrading your standard mixer into a smart one is that you’re no longer tied to the counter manually operating it. You can turn it on and trust that you’ll get the perfect result even if you leave the room! Remember when computers occupied whole rooms? They became smaller and smarter to the point where we now carry one right in our pockets! The Nutri-blend Smart mirrors the same evolution. It occupies less space than a traditional mixer and yet it excels in efficiency.

How to use peanut sauce

This versatile and delicious sauce can be used in several ways-

Dipping Sauce – Reduce the amount of water to make a thick but airy dipping sauce and serve with strips of peppers or cucumbers. It also tastes particularly great with spring rolls!

Satay Sauce – Serve the sauce along with chicken satay skewers or tofu skewers. The sauce is also great when brushed on the skewers and grilled!

Stir-fry sauce – For a quick and healthy meal, stir fry your favourite veggies or meat and once they’re cooked, add the peanut sauce. It’s a great way to add more flavour to a stir fry.

Fried Rice – Combined with some Thai Red Curry paste, this peanut sauce makes the most flavourful fried rice ever. Fry your choice of vegetables, eggs or protein and add some Thai red curry paste to it. Add the peanut sauce and day old rice and mix everything together. Top with spring onions and toasted sesame seeds.

Noodles – People all over social media are making their instant noodles more fancy so why shouldn’t you! You can forgo the tastemaker that comes with the noodles entirely or simply use the peanut sauce to enhance the flavour of your noodles. I’ve also used this sauce in a quick and easy Pad Thai recipe that turned out great!

Salad Dressing – Drizzle some of the sauce over an Asian inspired salad and you’ll forget you’re eating healthy!

Sauce for Wraps/Sandwiches – Looking for a new flavour for your next wrap? Try spreading a layer of this peanut sauce along with some greens, vegetables and protein for your next wrap or sandwich.

The saucy secret is out! Start your week off with a big jar of this sauce and use it in a different way for every day of the week. When people inevitably compliment you on the sauce and ask you for the secret, just tell them you’re a “nut-ural” at it!
