Four healthy and delicious juices to try this summer

Summer is upon us once again and with temperatures climbing steadily, it only looks like it’s going to get worse! Instead of feeling sun-kissed I feel sun-bombarded! With every balmy breeze comes the need to cool down with revitalising elixirs. Come embrace the summers with these four deliciously invigorating recipes. From the detoxing goodness of a beginner friendly green juice you can enjoy daily to a party favourite melon juice that’s perfect for those lazy days by the pool, there’s something for everyone! 

Beet Beauty 

Beetroot is one of those vegetables that you either love or hate. The one thing that everyone loves though? The colour! From pink pastas to pink dosas, this versatile vegetable has lent its vivid hues to  turn every imaginable dish barbie-pink! Hence the name Beet Beauty! 

Each ingredient plays an important part in this recipe. Beetroot brings the earthiness, apples bring the sweetness, orange juice the tanginess and ginger the spiciness. Beetroot is high in antioxidants and nitrates while ginger adds anti-inflammatory and digestive benefits. Orange juice is also an excellent source of vitamin C. This detox juice will help you cool your body and increase blood flow to your muscles. 

RECIPE CARD

Ingredients 

  • 1/4 cup Beetroot cubes (1 inch cubes) 
  • 1/2 cup Apple (1 inch cubes) 
  • 1/2 cup Orange Juice 
  • 1 tsp Finely Chopped Ginger 
  • Ice 
  • Sugar Optional 
  • Chia seeds 

Method: 

  1. Add all ingredients except the chia seeds to the Nutri-blend Smart tall blender jar and select the smoothie mode. 
  2. Once the mode is completed, Strain the juice with a fine mesh strainer into a glass. 
  3. Mix in some chia seeds as garnish. 
  4. Serve

Cantaloupe Cooler

Cantaloupe,, like all melons, are a great source of dietary fibre. They’re also rich in Vitamin A, C and B6. But the main reason why they’re so popular during summers is their high water content! A touch of turmeric aids in digestion along with its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Cantaloupe is great for gut health and digestion. It’ll also help you feel more energetic all the while keeping you hydrated and refreshed.

Ingredients 

  • 1 cup Cantaloupe cubes (1 inch cubes) 
  • 1/4 Lime  
  • 1/8 tsp Turmeric 
  • Pinch Salt 
  • Pinch Chilli Powder 
  • Ice 
  • Sugar  (Optional) 
  • Garnish 
  • Melon balls 
  • Pistachios 

Method: 

  1. Add all ingredients to the Nutri-blend Smart tall blender jar and select the smoothie mode. 
  2. Once the mode is completed, pour into a glass. 
  3. Garnish with melon balls and pistachios 
  4. Serve chilled. 

Beginner Friendly Green Juice

What’s not good for you in this juice? Spinach is rich in Vitamin A, C, folic acid and iron. This is great for your immune system and can aid healthy digestion. Mint and coriander are naturally cooling herbs that help regulate body temperature. Cucumbers are 96% water which make them a great way to detoxify and rehydrate the body. We’re blending it all with coconut water which needless to say is particularly good during summers.

  • 1/4 cup Green Apple cubes  (1 inch cubes) 
  • 1/4 cup Coriander leaves (Chopped)
  • 1/4 cup Mint leaves (Chopped)
  • 1 cup Spinach leaves (Chopped)
  • 1/4 Lime 
  • 1/2 cup Coconut Water 
  • Garnish 
  • Freshly ground Black pepper 

Method

  1. Add all ingredients to the Nutri-blend Smart tall blender jar and select the smoothie mode. 
  2. Once the mode is completed, Strain the juice with a fine mesh strainer into a glass. 
  3. Add freshly ground black pepper along with a few ice cubes and serve. 

Papaya and Passionfruit 

Papayas  is a summer staple for a reason. It’s got Vitamin A,C, antioxidants, dietary fibre – All things that are great for you. They’re also a great source of beta carotene – the red orange pigment that you find in carrots as well – which is especially good to reduce the strain your eyes face during summers.

  • 2 Ice Cubes 
  • ¼ Cup Water 
  • Garnish 
  • Passionfruit Seeds & Pulp

Method:

  3. Garnish with passionfruit pulp and seeds
